Sugar doesn't give you diabetes. Obesity and a poor diet does.

    Great interview!

Very inspiring. Shoot for the stars, it's so true : )
We better hurry to get some because he is getting all of them so far ; ) Congrats! And thank you for the reminder and the motivation to eat even better!

What do I know about protein, not a lot but that it is food for the muscles. I don't worry about "getting enough" of it in my vegan diet because I know there is protein in almost everything I eat. I often start my day with a green smoothie as well : )

Thank you Brock & Marta for the interview,

    Hello!

I'm sorry to hear about your injuries...not fun.
Brock congrats on your new job and on going to play baseball with your brother!

Yoga and mediation are awesome and they do so much for you! Did you read the 7 laws of yoga by Deepak? Great book as well : )

Marta, thank you for the kind acknowledgement :D

    Now what's new for me...?
Well I registered for my classes for the spring. One of them is a drawing class, it's been a while that I don't take the time to draw or paint like I use to, so hopefully this class will get me back in the game and help me finish the water color that I started 6 months ago.

    Have a wonderful day : )

  • Staying Active (on our Honeymoon) in Portugal - Episode #103   27 weeks 2 days ago

    Hi Kathy,

yeah the first time is painful ;)

Once you get use to it, you could also try squatting below 90˚ - it hits different muscle groups (more hamstrings).

    Thanks for sharing! :)

  • Staying Active (on our Honeymoon) in Portugal - Episode #103   27 weeks 4 days ago

    Hi!

I don't recommend to do 10 mins of squats for the first time while partying in Vegas...Too much alcohol and not enough sleep didn't help at all.

I felt like I was 90 years old the day after, I could barely walk! But it showed me that this exercise is great and quick. Today my legs are almost back to normal so I think I'll be doing another 10 mins of squats in the next days.

It is something I will laugh about for a while : )

  • Staying Active (on our Honeymoon) in Portugal - Episode #103   28 weeks 1 day ago

    Hello!

We are not on our honneymoon but in Vegas, and after two days of partying we both felt like we needed to work out this morning.
Jonathan especially since its his birthday today.
I didn't take my gym clothes with me so I didn't go to the gym with him, instead I remembered this episode and did my first 10 mins of squats in our room, looking at the strip and the mountains.
I wasn't able to keep the count...my mind was not focused enough but I do feel great and ready for the day! I did some abs as well.
I'll see how my legs feel tomorrow ;)
Thank you for the idea, this was a great quick workout!

  • Not Mr. Cosby's Pudding (Raw Chia Recipe) - Episode #222   30 weeks 21 hours ago

    Hi!

After watching your video this morning I went grocery shopping and was excited to try a new healthy breakfast. I had no idea you could make pudding with chia seeds.
I liked it but I didn't really taste the vanilla, I used vanilla bean like you. Next time I'll make it in advance and let it seat in the fridge a little bit, I'll also put the vanilla right away while the seeds are soaking.
Other than that, great simple and healthy recipe, just the way I like them! So thank you very much for giving me a new breakfast option!

  • The Best (& Worst) Foods for pH Balance - Episode #216   33 weeks 4 days ago

Awesome episode - very very interesting!! um, yeah, as I was watching the episode I was drinking a glass of wine - so that would have to be my favourite acidic food (closely followed by coffee). My favourite alkaline food right now are beets, with avocados a close second.
Brock, you mentioned that tea is very acidic - that doesn't apply to herbal teas right?? I'm a big fan of chamomile and mint before bed - I hope they don't apply!
Love the episodes!! Keep up the great work!

  • Dehydrator-Made Potato Chips - Episode #153   37 weeks 7 hours ago

I checked in my pantry and I don't have any, yeah! The veggie chips I got were made with sunflower oil.
I do my shopping at natural grocers/vitamin cottage. All their produce is organic and the rest of the store is suppose to be organic or good natural products...but they do have canola oil, that's why I didn't know it was bad but also I never knew what it was, and never bought it!
Thank you very much for your answer Marta, I started my day learning someting new, awesome!
    Have a great day : )

  • Dehydrator-Made Potato Chips - Episode #153   37 weeks 8 hours ago

    Hey Kathy,

sorry about the lag in response. After questioning where canola oil comes from, we decided to do some of our own investigating. Canola is not the name of a plant but a made up word. It's a genetically engineered plant developed in Canada from the rapeseed plant. In nature, the rapeseed plant contains a high percentage of erucic acid which had been tested and proven to be toxic for human and animal consumption, but was used to produce oils for industrial purposes. So through Genetic Modification, the food scientists removed most of the the acid so it could pass for human and animal consumption. As a result, the canola industry boomed. It's become a a cheap source of oil and continues to be found in more and more food, especially processed foods. There you have it. It came from a lab. Not healthy. Hope this helps. Marta

    Hi!

I didn't know that canola oil is bad. I don't buy any but I'm sure there might be some in some of the things I buy. I'll make sure to avoid it now.
Could you please tell me a bit more about it?

    Thank you!

  • There's Corn in That? - Episode #206   39 weeks 3 days ago

    Hi!
I always look well at the labels and don't buy a lot of packaged food. There is no corn by-products in my kitchen!
The toxins you talked about, are they as well in organic corn ears?
    Thank you,
    Kathy

Hey there! Raw almond milk has stayed fresh in our fridge for 4-5 days. Also, I've noticed that keeping it towards the back and tightly sealed in the jar seems to make it stay fresh-tasting longer too. enJOY. Marta

How long does this homemade almond milk stay fresh in a refrigerator?

  • Stay Motivated for Home Workouts - Episode #180   1 year 5 days ago

    Hiya!
Great list!! It's similar to what you have mentioned in your list, but I like to write down what I'm going to do. By writing and planning my workout ahead of time, when it comes time for my workout, there's no thinking or wasting time - I have my plan and off I go!! :)
    Keep up the great work!!

  • Healthy Snacks for Late at Night - Episode #164   1 year 3 weeks ago

My favourite nighttime snack is a spoonful of peanut butter!! Or apple slices with cinnamon.

This isn't exactly related to the show topic, but I was wondering about your thoughts on what time of day to exercise. There are so many conflicting views - I saw on TV the other day a "celebrity" trainer that recommended his clients to work out just before bedtime to "get the metabolism fired up and burning hot all night long". Is that really true?? I mean, you are asleep, so doesn't your metabolism sleep too?? (okay, maybe not sleep, but slow down)

Thanks so much! Keep up the great work!!

  • Exercise Myths for Women - Episode #168   1 year 3 weeks ago

Hooray - I'm glad I'm not the only one who has long monkey arms!! LOL!!
Strength training does not scare me - I love it. (Brock you helped with your Fit Camp) I love feeling strong!! But I do understand why women come into the gym with that mindset. There are so many conflicting images out there in magazines and the media. I try my best to get the message accross to female members of Access that strength training should be an essential part of EVERYONE'S fitness routine!
As to what does scare me.... zombies - they give me nightmares. I am a runner because one day if the zombies take over the world I want to make sure I can outrun them.
Keep up the great work guys!!
